A lot of learning can happen in just a two-hour time span if you're a student in Mark Willis's AgriScience class at the Summit Tech Center, the CTE program sponsored by the ESD.
Want proof?
Outside at its two-year old AgriScience Fruit Orchard, students discovered how to prep the orchard's bee hives for the winter.

Students also learned the correct way to plant apple trees and blueberry bushes.

And yep! The big telephone-like poles you see below are installed by the students as well! These poles hold long stretched-out ropes, which provide the new plantings which extra support during times of high winds.
Inside the classroom (where it was much warmer), students finished their leaf projects, where they were tasked to research the scientific names and characteristics of 15 kinds of trees located on the WSCC campus and 5 kinds of trees found near their homes.

So, what's the end game for all of these hands-on, minds-on experiences?
Just ask any of Mark's 2nd year AgriScience students.
Here's a group of them leveraging their wide-ranging experiences with plants and livestock in Mark's AgriScience class to pursue valuable certifications and also apply for real-world internships.
