General Education Social Work Services

General education social work services are provided to enhance and expand the availability of mental health services and supports to general education K-12 students across the West Shore ESD region. Our general education social workers are available to provide short and long-term mental and behavioral health support to students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Interventions include individual and group therapy and, when needed, referrals to more intensive services through the community mental health system. Referrals to general education social work services can be made through building principals. These services are made available through the school mental health and support services grant from the State of Michigan.
