A bunch of people holding their award

The 11th Annual "Make a Difference Awards" event was held on Wednesday, May 13.

Sponsored by the West Shore ESD Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC), this inspirational occasion spotlights the exceptional individuals, organizations, and businesses in our community that have made a meaningful and positive contributions toward the education and success of children with special needs.

More than 40 individuals and about 10 organizations and businesses were recipients of awards this year.

Pentwater 3rd grade student Porter Rinehart received one of the Peer Support Awards. About 500 award winners have been honored through the years by SEPAC. Porter is perhaps the youngest award-winner to date.

Porter eloquently shared this quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald to conclude the evening"

"To be kind is more important than to be right. Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens."

Thank you, Porter!

Congratulations to every award-winner, SEPAC, and the ESD staff who helped make this event such an uplifting success! Well done!
