Car skills competition
Automotive Technology teacher John Michalik and parapro Jacob Turkett accompanied three of their current second year Automotive Technology seniors to Grand Rapids Community College in mid-April so the students could test their skills in the SkillsUSA competition at the Michigan State Conference.
Manistee seniors Brian Spruce and Meridith Dalke along with Nate Corey from Onekama High School competed in the category of Maintenance and Light Repair.
The competition was at GRCC Leslie E. Tassell M-TEC building.
Students were challenged to demonstrate their skills and knowledge by performing hands-on automotive service tasks as well as taking a written exam.
The students gave it their all and the competition results will be posted in May.
Best wishes, Brian, Meridith, and Nate!
